Daisy was at the vets for an ear checkup, and while she was there he thought he’d check out her hips. He manipulated her and said her range of movement was good. He also felt her muscles and said that she has built up quite a bit, so it seems as though the hydro is still doing the trick for Daisy!

Hi all Bid has asked me to tell you Dusty`s tale (no pun intended)
She has always had a very pronounced sway when she walks we always said she was a hussy ! well a couple of months ago her back leg seemed to turn inwards as she walked and she seemed stiff when getting into the car or onto a chair (yes I know I always said no dogs on furniture to!)
So fearing the worst I took her to the vets, the lady vet agreed her gait was strange and booked her for an xray.I came away armed with joint suppliments and pain killers and instructions to return her on the following Thursday .with great trepidation she was dropped at the vets and the xrays taken .

when I fetched her they showed me the xray and explained that Dusty had HD I was gutted but after advice from someone on DT I requested that they send the xrays to the BVA .the vet was very reluctant and said it would cost me £45 and the BVA didnt score crossbreeds . I insisted so they took Dusty`s parentage and sent the xrays off to be scored .
I had to wait 6 weeks for the result .6 weeks of short lead walks and medication and I have to admit periods of real anguish for my lovely dog and her future ,thanks Bid for your support and encouragement, anyway back to the results …………..
    a total score of 13 .
6 on the left hip and 7 on the right .I had to ask the people on DT for advice and yes its a good score for doodles the breed standard for labradors is 15.so Dusty doesnt have HD I dont know what is wrong with her walk as I have to take her to be checked again but not to that vet!!
this story is not going to be the outcome for everyone but paying that bit extra to be scored has saved years of worry and expense .I have since been told that vets dont always have the ability to accurately read hip xrays !!!
